Teenager arrested after two injured in Pittsfield shooting

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An 18-year-old was charged with shooting and injuring two people in Pittsfield last month.

According to Pittsfield Police Lieutenant John Soules, on Friday, June 14 around 5:00 pm, officers were called to the intersection of North Street and Bradford Street for a shooting. Two Pittsfield men were found with gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to Berkshire Medical Center and recovered from their injuries.

Following an investigation, police determined there was probable cause for a suspect in the shooting. On Friday, police arrested 18-year-old Deakan Sayers on Putnam Avenue and charged him with the following:

  • Two counts of armed assault with the intent to murder
  • Two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to wit a firearm
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling
