Teenager arrested after Tenerife-bound flight diverted to Shannon Airport

A teenage man has been arrested at Shannon Airport following an incident on a flight to Tenerife.

Shannon Gardaí said they had “arrested an individual following an incident on board a plane which diverted to Shannon Airport on Wednesday June 12”.

“Shortly after 5.30pm, Gardaí were alerted to reports of a disturbance on a flight from Glasgow to Tenerife.”

The plane diverted to Shannon Airport, where Gardaí boarded the plane. During the incident, a woman in her twenties was attacked.

A man in his late teens was arrested in connection with the incident under the Non-Fatal Offenses Against the Person Act 1997.

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a County Clare Garda Station and investigations are ongoing.
