Teenager arrested after man seriously injured in broad daylight knife attack






(MENAFN-IANS) Sydney, July 1 (IANS) Australian police said on Monday that a teenager has been arrested after stabbing a man in broad daylight, leaving him seriously injured in New South Wales (NSW).

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. local time on Sunday when emergency services were called to Seymour Street in Bathurst following reports of a stabbing, the news agency reports Xinhua.

When police arrived, they found a 28-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

Once the crime scene was established, New South Wales Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following an investigation, officers attended a home in Gormans Hill and arrested a 13-year-old boy.

He was taken to Bathurst police station and charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The teen was denied bail and is expected to appear in juvenile court on Monday.

Bathurst is located approximately 200km west of the state capital, Sydney, with 7,001 people living in the urban area, according to the 2021 Australian census.
