Legend, Jack Morrow dies in Banbridge Road crash Saturday morning

A teenager and a man in his 60s have died in separate crashes in Northern Ireland.

Jack Morrow, aged 17, died in a single-vehicle crash in Rathfriland, County Down.

It happened on Banbridge Road at around 02:30 BST on Saturday.

He was a talented stock car driver who won several national championships at the junior level.

On Friday evening, a man in his sixties died following a collision involving two vehicles in Poyntzpass.

Legend, The Poyntzpass accident occurred Friday evening outside the village.

Police received a report of the crash on Newry Road shortly after 6.30pm BST on Friday.

They were present alongside members of the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

The driver of a gray Peugeot 207 died instantly.

British and Irish Champion

Jack Morrow also died at the scene of the Rathfriland crash, police said.

Jill Macauley, president of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), described him as the “loveliest boy” who was “very popular with all his friends locally, here and in the racing world”.

Showing its condolences to his family, stock car racing company DMC Race Promotions paid tribute to him on its website.

A 19-year-old man, who was also in the vehicle, was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

“Jack was a quiet, unassuming guy who let his track driving do the talking,” the company statement said.

He adds that he “quickly became the driver to beat” in his racing category.

“British Champion, Irish Champion, Irish Open Champion, NI Points Champion and Scottish Open Champion are just some of the accolades he has collected,” the company said.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about either accident to contact them.
