Teenager Allegedly Armed With Knives, Tactical Gear Arrested Outside Politician's Office 'With Manifesto Threatening Mass Murder'



Police have arrested a 19-year-old man allegedly in possession of knives and tactical equipment in connection with a possible terrorist threat outside a politician's office.

The arrest took place on Wednesday afternoon after police received a report of concern for the man's welfare.

Sky News reports that the teenager allegedly wrote a manifesto in which he threatened to carry out mass murder.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man allegedly in possession of knives and tactical equipment in connection with a possible terrorist threat outside a politician's office.

In a statement, NSW Police said officers attached to Newcastle District attended a premises on Workshop Way where they arrested the man.

“Following a subsequent search, police located a number of items which have now been seized,” police said.

“The teenager was taken to Newcastle Police Station

“Following further inquiries, officers became aware of the existence of a document which had been distributed to a number of public figures and media outlets.

“The man is currently assisting police and there is no current threat to the community in relation to this investigation.

“Investigations continue in Newcastle Police District, with the assistance of specialist investigators.”

It appears that the anti-terrorist police are investigating.
