Teenage son charged with murder after father goes missing in south

INDIANAPOLIS — A teenager is charged with murder in connection with the disappearance of his father.

BrandonPerry, 35, was reported missing in May. IMPD and the Marion County Prosecutor's Office now have reason to believe that her son, David Perry, is guilty of the murder of Brandon Perry.

According to court documents filed June 5, police used surveillance videos from local businesses, DNA testing and cell phone tracking to determine probable cause for David Perry's arrest.

Video surveillance shows David Perry purchasing a red cart, a dust duster, a small fan, seat covers, a candle, a belt and a small gun safe at the Beech Grove Walmart shortly after he reported for the last once seeing his father.

More than six hours later, David Perry's cell phone can be traced to New Harmony Road under I-69. This is where White River crosses I-69, according to court documents.

Four hours later, David Perry was seen in a guarded parking lot and leaving his father's truck in the parking lot of Mikie's Pub in the 5100 block of Emerson Avenue, according to court documents.

According to court documents, while examining the scene on New Harmony Road, investigators spotted tire tracks that matched those of Brandon Perry's truck. Another set of markings match the wheels of the missing Republic trash can from Brandon Perry's house.

On several occasions during the investigation, Brandon Perry's sister told investigators that David Perry told her he put her father at the bottom of the White River, according to court documents.

David Perry told his aunt that “the trash can lid was closed and it wasn't going to open,” according to court documents.

According to court documents, David Perry shared texts with someone explaining that he and his father had been arguing.

While Brandon Perry was reported missing by his sister on May 29, David Perry, who lived with Brandon Perry and had not seen him in three days, did not report him missing, according to court documents.

IMPD requested assistance from the Indiana State Police Dive Team in attempting to locate and recover the body of Brandon Perry, according to court documents.
