Teenage girl suffers 'very serious injuries' after crash in Sandbanks

A car crash in Sandbanks left a 17-year-old girl with “very serious” injuries, police said.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision between a black Mercedes and a gray BMW on Banks Road in Poole was reported at 1.01am on Boxing Day.

A teenage passenger in the Mercedes was taken to hospital along with the driver of the car, who was treated as a precaution.

Emergency crews from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Services were sent to the scene at 1.06am and had to free one person from a car, a spokesperson said. The crews left at 2:38 a.m.

Banks Road remains closed while officers investigate the scene.

Inspector Craig Tatton, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward.

“Furthermore, I would urge anyone with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle who was nearby at the time to check if they captured anything of interest that could assist our investigations.

“We are aware that the road closure is impacting traffic and access in this area and I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while it is necessary to keep it in place to enable us to fully investigate the situation. circumstances of the collision. »
