Teenage girl found dead in Monteagle restaurant parking lot in 2023 was pregnant and shot multiple times

A 14-year-old girl found dead Oct. 8 in a Monteagle, Tennessee, restaurant parking lot was pregnant and had been shot, according to an autopsy report.

Originally identified as “Nahomi Hernandez” by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in October, the girl's full name on the autopsy report is Delcy Nahomy Guevara Hernandez, according to the state medical examiner's office in Nashville. One of the shots went through his chest.

No weapons were found during the investigation, but how Hernandez died is now known, said Steve Strain, Marion County deputy prosecutor.

“She died of multiple gunshot wounds and she was pregnant,” Strain said in a telephone interview. “She was from Central America. There's family here.”

Hernandez's body was spotted in the parking lot of the Mi Casa restaurant on West Main Street in Monteagle by a passing Franklin County deputy, Marion County Sheriff Ronnie “Bo” Burnett said early in the investigation. investigation. The death was ruled a homicide as the investigation continued.

The restaurant sits west of Interstate 24, where it bisects the town atop a mountain that straddles the border of Marion, Franklin and Grundy counties.

The TBI, Monteagle police, the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the prosecutor's office are conducting a joint investigation that continues, Strain said.
