Teen, woman injured in southeast Minnesota highway crash

Lewiston, Minn. (KROC-AM News) – A woman and a teenager were injured in a crash on a southeastern Minnesota highway.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision. The State Patrol responded to the crash around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon.

The vehicles collided on Interstate 90 near the Lewiston exit in Winona County. A car and an SUV were traveling west before the crash.

The car slowed to change lanes and was struck by the SUV, according to the state accident report. Amanda Jean Speedling, 36 years old was identified as the driver of the SUV.

The Elgin woman and one of the passengers, a 15-year-old boy also from Elgin, were taken to Winona Hospital. Their injuries are described as not life-threatening.

Three other 15-year-old boys from Elgin and a small boy were also in the SUV. They escaped the accident without injuries.

Janet Mary McCauley, 73, of Plantation, Florida, was driving the car. She was not injured and no passengers were with her.

All seven people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the collision, the state crash report states. I-90 was described as wet at the time of the two-vehicle crash.

The Lewiston Fire Department and Lewiston Ambulance also responded to the collision.
