WILKES-BARRE, PA — A 14-year-old Wilkes-Barre man was hospitalized following an aggravated assault early Thursday morning. The incident occurred at 301 Old River Road at 3:07 a.m.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the specified location. When they arrived, they found the victim who reported being assaulted by two male suspects, believed to be between the ages of 15 and 18.

The victim said the suspects started a fight while he was walking along Old River Road. During the ensuing altercation, a suspect hit him in the face with a gun. As the victim tried to run away, he fell and was then stabbed multiple times in the lower back.

The suspects fled before police arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are continuing their investigation into this violent altercation.

Barnes was charged with three counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction of justice and one count of public intoxication.
