Teen suspect arrested after shots fired in traffic

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office arrested a teenager after he opened fire at a busy intersection. Someone on a road in Anderson County, South Carolina, opened fire into traffic Wednesday, shooting another person and causing a crash, deputies say. Shale Remien with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened at the intersection of Michelin Boulevard and West. Whitner Street. “We know that a person was shot in the leg and as a result accidentally hit another car because they were injured,” Remien said. She said the driver suffered minor injuries. Police are still searching for the person who Remien said fired shots across two lanes of traffic, hitting the victim in the third lane. “Fortunately, no passersby in the middle lane were hit, and this is an isolated incident. We are only in the early stages of the investigation,” Remien said. On Thursday, ACSO arrested a 17-year-old juvenile for attempted murder and discharging a firearm at a vehicle. The teen is currently in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, according to officials.

According to her, the driver was slightly injured.

Deputies are still searching for the person Remien said he shot across two lanes of traffic, hitting the victim in the third lane.

“Fortunately, no passersby in the middle lane were hit, and this is an isolated incident that is in the early stages of investigation,” Remien said.
