Teen seriously injured in shooting at Nashville apartment complex

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A party of more than 30 people at an Elliston Place apartment ended in gunfire. Now the teen who was shot is fighting for his life in the hospital.

WSMV4 spoke with roommates who live in the complex and heard it all, because the shooter is still on the loose and fearing backlash from building management, they chose to remain anonymous.

“There was so much adrenaline and everyone was screaming,” one witness said.

The two went to bed early and were awakened around midnight by a loud party going on on the fourth floor. They say the party quickly turned into an argument and that's when they heard a gunshot.

“I was scared and we went out together and looked at the balcony where all the noise was coming from and saw the guy, the boy lying there lifeless. We didn’t know if the shooter was still in the building,” another witness said.

Police say the shooter managed to escape. They believe the party was held at a short-term rental to celebrate recent high school graduates.

“It was a bit like: Is there a shooter at the pool? Is it just a shootout to the balcony? or is it someone crazy? or was it a targeted thing? We just didn’t know,” she said.

The two want the resort to install more security measures and limit the number of short-term rentals allowed there.

“I was driving and all the doors are held open by huge rocks, like the party opened them? Did the police do it? I don't know. But with a gunman on the loose, it’s scary,” she said.

We contacted the apartment complex to see what they had to say – they did not get back to us. Police say they are continuing their investigation. No arrests have been made.
