Teen seriously injured in Harrisburg shooting by 17-year-old who wanted gun: police

A 17-year-old shot a younger teen Saturday when he tried to steal his gun for a second time, police wrote in court records.

Tyjawan K. Hill, 17, was charged with attempted homicide Tuesday in connection with the shooting in the 1200 block of Thompson Street in the city's Allison Hill neighborhood.

Hill remains at large as of Tuesday.

A probable cause affidavit filed against Hill on Tuesday gave the following account:

A 15-year-old boy was shot multiple times around 2 p.m. and was hospitalized in critical condition at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Hospital. When detectives told him he might not survive, the boy identified his shooter as Hill, known on the streets as “T-Fats” or “Fats.”

Hill had previously stolen a gun from the boy he shot. The boy stole the gun from Hill, and Hill went to his house Friday night to steal the gun again, according to court documents. The boy's mother said he told her about the gun theft Friday night and she showed police screenshots of a conversation they had about the incident.

Hill came to the family home between 9:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Friday. The victim's mother's boyfriend opened the door and asked Hill why he was there.

The boyfriend told Hill the victim wasn't there and went back inside, but when he returned a few minutes later, he said Hill was still standing outside and holding his hand straight behind his back as if he was holding a gun.

“If you don’t let me in, I’m going to shoot you,” Hill told the victim’s mother’s boyfriend, according to court documents.

“You’re going to have to kill me,” the boyfriend replied.

Hill then attempted to force his way into the home, but the victim's mother's boyfriend stopped him. Hill eventually left the scene without entering the house.

The shooting took place the next day. Police said they found four 9-millimeter shell casings at the scene and obtained a photo of the suspect fleeing the area.

Multiple witnesses told police they saw a man matching Hill's description, dressed in black and running from the area after shots were fired. Witnesses said he was carrying a multi-colored backpack and put a black mask over his face as he fled.

Hill was last seen heading south on Summit Street, according to the affidavit. Police said in court documents that Hill was running toward his home in the 1600 block of Naudain Street.

Court documents say one of Hill's relatives told police he was in and out of the Naudain Street home all the time and that she had not seen him the day of the shooting.

In addition to attempted homicide, Hill is charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and two firearms offenses.

Police are asking anyone with information on Hill's whereabouts to call 717-558-6900 or submit a tip through CrimeWatch.
