Teen seriously injured in Harrisburg shooting

A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured after being shot Saturday afternoon in Harrisburg, police confirmed.

Officers went to the 1200 block of Thompson Street, near Evergreen Street, behind Christ Lutheran Church around 2 p.m. after receiving a report of shots fired, said police Lt. Harrisburg Kyle Gautsch.

When officers arrived, they found the 15-year-old boy with at least one gunshot wound, but it is possible he had been shot more than once, police said.

The boy was transported to the hospital after receiving medical treatment on scene and was last listed in critical condition, according to Gautsch.

Officers were seen searching nearby porches, trash cans and bushes throughout the area. At least four evidence markers and several evidence collection bags were seen in the alley.

Police cleared the area around 3:30 p.m., but as of 5 p.m. had not announced any suspects or motives in the shooting.

Saturday's shooting comes days after two people were killed and three others injured in a shooting in the first block of 15th Street, about a half-mile away. A 43-year-old man was also shot and killed near Thompson and Evergreen streets in late April.
