Teen seriously injured after shooting in West Poplar, Philadelphia; 3 suspects wanted

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A teenager was seriously injured after being shot multiple times in Philadelphia's West Poplar neighborhood Saturday night.

It happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Fairmount Avenue.

Police were called to the scene following reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, police said they found a 16-year-old boy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including two to the head.

He was transported to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Investigators say the teen was riding his bike when a car stopped and three suspected shooters wearing masks got out. The suspects then opened fire, just 20 or 30 meters from the teenager.

The suspects fled after the shooting.

Officers say they found at least 21 spent shell casings at the scene. One of them was at a woman's home.

“In addition to the victim being struck, a bullet pierced the windshield of a vehicle, then the window of a home in the 1200 block of Fairmount and entered the living room where a woman was sitting against the wall. We are very grateful that she was touched. not hit or injured,” Philadelphia Police Detective DF Pace told Action News.

Authorities say no weapons have been recovered and no arrests have been made.
