'Teen Mom' Star's Fiancé Reported Missing One Night After Family Wedding Celebration

BRYSON CITY, N.C. (WLOS) — Gary Wayt, the fiancé of “Teen Mom” ​​and “16 and Pregnant” reality TV star Amber Portwood, is missing in western North Carolina.

Portwood and Wayt came to Bryson City to attend Portwood's brother's wedding on Saturday, June 8. On the night of Sunday, June 9, police said Wayt was missing.

Bryson City Police Chief Charlie Robinson said the couple recently got engaged and had a lot to celebrate at Portwood's brother's wedding.

Robinson said the couple had come from Indiana and were staying in a rental cabin off Arlington Avenue, in a place called Twin Oaks Lodge, when Wayt disappeared.

Amber filed a report in hopes of finding him. Police are now asking for the public's help to find him.

Wayt was last seen in a 2009 Nissan Rogue with Indiana license plates, according to Robinson. He is described as a man, 6'1, 205 pounds, bald with brown eyes.

He was last seen Sunday evening at 6 p.m. along Arlington Avenue.

“On Sunday, they had some kind of disagreement. He left. And when he left, he took his wallet and his keys and that's the last time he was seen,” Robinson said. “One thing I find unusual is he just grabbed his wallet and his keys. He left his other personal items there. He left his cell phone there.”

Portwood and Wayt had originally planned to leave Monday evening. Now that Wayt is missing, Portwood remains in the area until he is found.

“The family hasn't heard from her… She's talked to her parents, her siblings, her fiancée…” Robinson said. “None of his friends have heard from him. We're just trying to locate him and make sure he's safe.”
