Teen Mom Maci Bookout Talks Co-Parenting With Ex Ryan Edwards, Her 'Fantastic' Girlfriend (Exclusive)

“Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” premieres season 2 on Thursday, May 30 on MTV.

Maci Bookout is celebrating the “positive” new dynamic she has with ex Ryan Edwards and girlfriend Amanda Conner. THE Teen Mom: The Next Chapter The star opened up to PopCulture.com about co-parenting her son Bentley, 15, with Edwards ahead of Thursday's Season 2 premiere, revealing that things have been going “really well” lately.

“It's going really well. It's new for us,” she explained. “I feel like I've always co-parented with [Edwards’] parents, so we are still figuring it out, adjusting and seeing how it works for us [and] what that looks like for us.” The MTV star said she's also focused on “making sure Ryan's sobriety remains his priority” and that he continues to work around his recovery.

It's been “a journey” for Bookout and Edwards, filled with lots of conflict, but “we're still moving in the right direction,” she assured. Part of that positive trajectory has to do with Edwards' girlfriend, Bookout says, who he started dating last summer after they met at a rehabilitation center.

Having Conner in the picture has “definitely changed the dynamic, but I would say in a positive way,” Bookout told PopCulture, “She’s really easy to talk to, to be with her, to share a room. [She’s] I have very good energy.” 16 and pregnant The alumna went on to praise Conner as “very supportive” of Bentley and her co-parenting relationship with Edwards, adding, “She's definitely been a benefit to our world and she makes it really easy. It's like she always had a place at the table, [but] she just arrived at the table. But yes, she's fantastic.”

In addition to navigating her co-parenting relationships this season, Bookout is taking on a whole new chapter in her life. The mother of three is embarking on driving lessons with Bentley while juggling her other responsibilities with daughter Jayde, 9, and son Maverick, 7, whom she shares with husband Taylor McKinney.

“I would like to say bittersweet, but it’s really not bittersweet,” Bookout said of teaching her eldest to drive. “It’s really shocking. I feel like we arrived very quickly. You think, “Okay, that’s so far away. That's so far. Then one day we say, “Oh, it’s the big day. It happens. This is happening.'” She continued, “It's exciting, but it's very scary and it's hard because you have to let them make certain decisions for themselves and figure out who they are and be willing to see them being wrong sometimes and support them after that.
