Teen killed in dirt bike crash at Wareham motocross track

WAREHAM (WBSM) — A teenager was killed Saturday in a fatal dirt bike crash in Wareham.

Wareham Police said the department, along with Wareham EMS and the Onset Fire Department, responded to a dirt bike crash involving a juvenile around 12:37 a.m. June 15.

The accident occurred at a motocross track located at 131 Atwood Farm Way in East Wareham.

According to Plymouth County Prosecutor Timothy J. Cruz, first responders arrived and found the 14-year-old boy seriously injured. He was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where he was pronounced dead.

This is the second fatal dirt bike accident involving a teenager at the same motocross track in recent years. In 2021, Ava Pioppi, 13, of Carver, was killed in a fatal accident there.

Wareham Police Public Information Officer Sergeant Bryan Whalen said one of the department's officers was involved in a vehicle accident while responding to the high-priority incident and was transported to Tobey with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fatal dirt bike crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County Prosecutor's Office.
