Teen killed at Lynn Market Basket shot in parked car, DA says

The 17-year-old who was shot and killed near a market cart in Lynn on Saturday night was shot while inside a car parked outside the grocery store, according to the district attorney. Essex County, Paul Tucker.

After the car was struck and the teen was killed, the car he was in rolled into bushes in a nearby ravine, Tucker said at a news conference Sunday morning. First responders found him near 40 Federal St. around 9 p.m. and took him to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the district attorney's office previously said.

Authorities believe the shooting was targeted, Tucker said. The prosecution is waiting for the victim's family to be informed of his death before publicly identifying him.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting and no further information has been released.
