Teen seriously injured after shooting in Hobbs

The victim was flown to Lubbock, Texas, for treatment.

A weekend night shooting left an 18-year-old from New Mexico hospitalized. The shooting occurred shortly after midnight Saturday morning, May 25. Hobbs police responded to the shooting near the 2000 block of North Kingsley Street. Officers found James Lara-Salazar, 18, of Hobbs, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lara-Salazar was transported to a local hospital and then flown to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He is currently in critical condition as of Sunday, May 26.
