Teen Girls Arrested for Stealing Still-Missing Bronx Pet Daschund Named Milkshake

Two 16-year-old girls were arrested for stealing a beloved Bronx pet named Milkshake — but the dachshund has not yet been found, police said Tuesday.

The suspects were charged Tuesday morning with robbery and harassment. Police say they still don't know the fate of the stolen dog.

“The Milkshake was not returned,” the dog’s distraught owner, Luz Monica Montien, told the Daily News on Tuesday. “I have no information on his whereabouts.”

Montez was in her apartment while her children and other neighborhood children played with the brown-haired dog in the hallway on May 4.

At one point, Milkshake received his snacks and then continued to play with the children as they spilled out into the hallway. Montez believes someone took her dog between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“It's a short window and they just took her away,” said Montez, who has been eating Milkshake since she was 3 weeks old.

The New York Police Department released surveillance footage of the suspects last week and asked for the public's help in identifying and finding them.

The names of the suspects were not released by the New York Police Department after their indictment because they are juveniles.

Two 16-year-old Bronx girls were arrested for stealing “Milkshake” – but the beloved dachshund has still not been found, police said.

The dog, who turns 10 on July 16, has several unique physical characteristics that could help identify her, including small hard spots on her tail, a broken nail on her left rear paw and a chipped front tooth. Milkshake also walks with a slight limp, according to a missing homemade poster.

Montez said the building often has strangers hanging around inside — homeless people as well as teenagers who leave school and loiter near the back staircase.

“We get a lot of reports of package thefts,” she said. “But it's a real dog, a living being [they took]. It's a bit crazy. For me it was very shocking.
