Teen dies following shooting in northwest Scarborough

A teenager has died following a broad daylight shooting in northwest Scarborough Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the Glendower Plaza parking lot in the L'Amoreaux neighborhood near Birchmount Road and Glendower Court, just south of Finch Avenue East.

Footage from the scene shows the shooting appears to have happened outside a convenience store.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said it was called to the area shortly before 2 p.m. to reports of a shooting and that a boy was later found in hospital with gunshot wounds. The victim's injuries are considered life-threatening, they said.

He died in hospital shortly afterward, TPS said in a follow-up article on X.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released by police.

Police have also not indicated what the motive for the deadly shooting might be or what circumstances led to it.

Meanwhile, investigators are searching for two male suspects: one was last seen wearing a red hat, red shirt and tan shorts, while the other was wearing a black hoodie.

The homicide squad is investigating and a large area remains cordoned off around the square and neighboring houses.

Police are expected to provide an update on their investigation this evening.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
