Teen charged with murder of Redding man | News

REDDING, California. – A 15-year-old from Burney has been charged with the murder of Tallonn Sanders, 31, Redding police said.

After midnight March 23, officers responded to a report of a shooting victim located at the intersection of East Cypress Avenue and Hartnell Avenue, police said.

Sanders was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Early in the investigation, detectives were able to determine that Sanders knew who killed him, police said. After gathering evidence, detectives were able to identify that a 15-year-old from Burney was responsible for the shooting.

Detectives also discovered that approximately seven hours before the shooting, the 15-year-old suspect was involved in an attack on two other juveniles at the RABA bus terminal in Redding. The suspect brandished a firearm in a threatening manner during the RABA incident, police said.

Then, on March 24, officers from the Neighborhood Police Unit were able to find and arrest the 15-year-old suspect, police said. At the time, the suspect was arrested for his role in the assault at RABA bus station and has remained in custody ever since.

On June 10, detectives submitted their findings regarding the fatal shooting to the Shasta County Juvenile Probation Department, police said.

The 15-year-old was charged with murder and several charges related to illegal possession of a firearm by a minor, police said.
