Teen charged with murder after man fatally stabbed outside mall

A teenager has been charged with murdering a man. Tom Ellis, 25, died from a single knife wound following an incident outside the Ropewalk Shopping Center in Queens Road, Nuneaton, on Saturday June 8.

A 16-year-old boy from Nuneaton has been charged with murder. He is due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on June 14. A 15-year-old boy was released without further action and a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were released on bail.

Another 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on June 11. Det Inspector Gareth Unett said: “Warwickshire Police’s thoughts continue to be with Tom’s family and friends, during this incredibly difficult time.

“I would like to thank the officers and police staff who worked long hours to help us charge a suspect. I would also like to thank the community for all their support and continue to appeal for anyone with information to contact us.

“The legal proceedings are now active, therefore I would also like to remind everyone that due to the age of the accused, they are legally entitled to anonymity and any attempt to break this anonymity would compromise the trial.

“It is important that we now allow the criminal justice process to play its role.”
