Teen charged in Nashville vehicle theft group

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 19-year-old has been arrested as part of an organized car theft group of teenagers accused of stealing vehicles in Nashville.

Christopher Eddie was arrested early Friday morning on eight charges of theft of vehicles worth more than $10,000 but less than $60,000.

Metro detectives became aware of an organized group of county-wide car thefts involving six to nine teenagers in late December 2023, according to court documents.

When a car was stolen from a parking lot off Dew Street in East Nashville, Metropolitan Police reported that Eddie was seen on surveillance video arriving at the garage in a red Hyundai Sonata on Christmas Day. This same car was reported stolen from Avana Lexington Apartments in Bellevue between December 22 and 25, 2023.

The Metropolitan Police reported that Eddie's fingerprints helped link him to the stolen vehicle.

Eddie was booked into Metro Jai and charged with eight counts of vehicle theft, vandalism, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and evading arrest. His bail was set at $175,000.

No additional information was immediately released.
