INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis teenager has been charged after police say he pulled out a gun while trying to buy a gaming console from a man he met on Facebook Marketplace.

Miquel Beasley, 16, is charged with two counts of armed robbery and criminal recklessness, as well as a misdemeanor charge of dangerous possession of a firearm by a child.

According to newly released court documents, shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, May 31, IMPD officers were called to the 3800 block of German Church Road, near 38th Street, on a report of a flight. When police arrived, they spoke with the victim who confirmed that the theft had taken place. The officers also noticed that the victim had a cut on his hand.

In a statement to officers, the victim told police she listed her PlayStation 5 on Facebook Marketplace and agreed to meet a buyer at a location on Willowood Drive. The buyer, later identified as Beasley, allegedly attempted to send $340 to the victim through the payment service CashApp.

The victim told police she did not know what Beasley was doing with the gun, but mentioned hearing clicking sounds and assumed the gun was a BB gun.

The victim told police she began chasing Beasley in the area of the 3500 block of Bearwood Court. Beasley allegedly ran to one of the homes on Bearwood Court and tried to open the door, but it was locked.

Beasley allegedly told the victim that there was still one bullet left in the chamber and that “we only needed one.” Beasley threatened to shoot the victim if she didn't drop the PS5.

The victim, walking away from Beasley, then allegedly threw the magazine over a fence, walked the PS5 back to his car and returned to the location on German Church Road to call police.
