Teen arrested in connection with gun store burglary, other crimes | The latest news from WDEL News

A teenager is accused of breaking into and stealing guns this week from a gun store in Wilmington Manor, as well as other burglaries and a robbery in recent weeks.

Delaware State Police and New Castle County Police said the 14-year-old man was arrested this week after similarities were found between several cases dating back to mid-May. The investigation into Monday's incident, in which a flatbed was used to crash into the exterior of Miller's Gun Center at Jackson Avenue and Route 13, is ongoing, according to county police.

The teen is charged with 16 counts of theft of a firearm, a felony, as part of the county's investigation. State police charged the teen with burglaries of medical facilities and a flower shop, as well as armed robbery of a pharmacy.

County police listed these charges in this case:

• Sixteen counts of firearm theft.

• Two counts of third-degree burglary.

• One count of possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18 years of age.

• One count of possession of ammunition by a person under 18 years of age.

• One count of motor vehicle theft.

• Two counts of criminal mischief under $5,000.

• One count of theft under $1,500.

The 14 year old man was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and booked into the New Castle County Detention Center after failing to post $79,000 cash bail.

Delaware State Police investigated these recent incidents:

Beginning on May 15, 2024, at approximately 8:56 p.m., troopers responded to the Walgreens located at 802 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, for a report of an armed robbery. The investigation revealed that an unknown suspect approached a Walgreens employee at the counter and demanded money from the registers while pointing a large knife at her. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot towards Duncan Road with an undisclosed amount of money.

On May 17, 2024, at approximately 2:16 a.m., officers responded to Belak Flowers, located at 832 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, for a report of a burglary. The investigation revealed that an unknown suspect entered the business using a rock to break a window and then stole property, cash and a set of keys belonging to a Chevrolet Express van. The suspect fled the property in the stolen pickup truck, which was recovered later the same day after it was abandoned in the Paladin Club Condominiums area of ​​Wilmington.

Between May 22, 2024 and May 27, 2024, Troopers investigated 4 burglaries of a similar nature at the following North Wilmington medical centers: Pure Wellness, Dougherty Dental Solutions, Wilmington Medical Associates, and Synergy Integrated Health. In each burglary, an unknown suspect gained access to the medical center using a tool or brick to break the glass doors/windows and stole medical supplies and cash from inside.
