Teen arrested for series of burglaries and thefts in North Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested a 14-year-old from Wilmington in connection with several burglaries and a robbery that occurred throughout the month of May in North Wilmington.

The crime spree began on May 15, 2024, with an armed robbery at the Walgreens at 802 Philadelphia Pike. An unknown suspect allegedly threatened an employee with a large knife, demanding money from the registers. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money in the direction of Duncan Road.

Two days later, on May 17, a burglary was reported at Belak Flowers at 832 Philadelphia Pike. The suspect broke into the store using a rock to break a window, stealing property, cash and the keys to a Chevrolet Express van, which was later found abandoned near the Paladin Club Condominiums.

From May 22 to May 27, the same suspect allegedly burglarized four medical centers in North Wilmington: Pure Wellness, Dougherty Dental Solutions, Wilmington Medical Associates and Synergy Integrated Health. In each case, the suspect used a tool or brick to break into the facility, stealing medical supplies and cash.

Collaborative efforts between Troop 2 Criminal Investigation detectives, the New Castle County Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) led to the identification of the suspect as the same person involved in similar incidents under the jurisdiction of the Chateau County New Police. The juvenile suspect was apprehended by New Castle County Police on May 28, 2024.

The arrest highlights a disturbing pattern of criminal behavior involving significant threats to community safety and property. The teen is currently in custody and faces charges of burglary and armed robbery.
