Teen arrested for fleeing FHP at more than 130 mph on SR-82 in Lee County

An 18-year-old allegedly fled a traffic stop and collided with another vehicle Tuesday. The Florida Highway Patrol says it attempted to stop a car going 85 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Road 82 in Lee County at about 12 p.m. :43 am Police say the driver, Alden Roberts, 18, reached speeds of more than 130 mph to escape a traffic stop at Daniels Parkway and Gateway Boulevard. According to reports, Roberts collided with another vehicle on SR-82 and Sunshine Boulevard, bringing the car to rest. Police say two passengers were in the vehicle and they were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Deputies reportedly arrested Roberts and charged him with fleeing and several counts of reckless driving.

Officers say the driver, 18-year-old Alden Roberts, reached speeds of more than 130 mph to escape a traffic stop at Daniels Parkway and Gateway Boulevard.

According to reports, Roberts collided with another vehicle at SR-82 and Sunshine Boulevard, stopping the car.

Police say two passengers were in the vehicle and were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Deputies reportedly arrested Roberts and charged him with fleeing and several counts of reckless driving.
