Teen arrested and identified as suspect in Wichita Falls robbery murder

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Police have identified and apprehended a suspect in the recent murder of 23-year-old Jourdyn Jones.

Police identified Traquan Cox Eliand, 17, as a suspect in Jones' murder.


According to WFPD Sergeant Charlie Eipper, a search warrant was executed in the 400 block of Calhoun around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.

The suspect reportedly fled the police but was ultimately captured by police.

WFPD Crimes Against Persons detectives are currently searching the apartment.

The search took place after WFPD and Crime Stoppers issued a Fresh 48 for the murder with a reward of up to $5,500, asking for any relevant information.

Jones was shot at least twice at the intersection of Wichita Street and Calhoun Street during an aggravated robbery just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, according to police.

He died from his injuries the next day.

Eliand faces a capital murder charge. Bail set on the arrest warrant is $1 million, according to Eipper.
