Teen arrested after sexual assault allegations in Knowle

Police on routine patrol were informed of the incident last night.

A teenager has been arrested after reports of a sexual assault in Bristol on Wednesday evening (May 29).

Avon and Somerset Police said officers on a routine patrol were approached and informed that a teenage girl had been sexually assaulted by touching in the Connaught Road area of ​​Knowle, at around 9pm.

The arrested boy later came forward to police and has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Inspector Chris Starr, of the Filwood Neighborhood Policing Team, said: “Investigations into what happened are ongoing but we can confirm that one person has been arrested.

“This individual has since been released on bail, which prevents him from returning to Connaught Road.”

Officers will now carry out more patrols in the area to try to allay public concerns. Police add that they are “aware” that there were social media posts about what allegedly happened, shared online overnight.

“We are aware that there have been posts on social media regarding what happened last night, so we hope this update will help reassure those we are investigating that an arrest has been made. been carried out and will show how seriously we take this incident,” Inspector Starr added.

“We are, however, asking people to avoid posting material or speculation online that could have a damaging impact while a live police investigation is underway.”
