Teen accused of stabbing mother in sleep gives bizarre explanation

(WJW) – A Mississippi teenager was arrested after she tried to kill her mother while she slept.

According to a news release from the Gulfport Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 13000 block of Dee Avenue “in reference to a cutting incident” just after 2:30 a.m. on June 14. .

Officers found a victim with multiple stab wounds at the home, according to the release.

Investigation revealed the victim was sleeping in her bed when she was awakened by Lexi Jade Brown, 15, who attacked her with a knife.

According to the release, Brown then attempted to start a fire inside the home.

After being arrested, Brown told detectives she planned to kill the victim because she thought she was a “weird bitch” and accused the victim of “suppressing the black in her.”

According to PEOPLE, the stabbing victim is Brown's mother.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

Brown was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson and is now being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on $1,250,000 bail, according to the release .
