Teen accused of making bomb threat at school

FAIRVIEW ALPHA, La. (KSLA) — A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a bomb threat Wednesday, June 5, at Fairview Alpha Elementary School in Natchitoches Parish.

It was approximately 10:56 a.m. when sheriff's deputies responded to assist an NPSO school resource officer with a report of a bomb threat at Fairview Alpha Elementary School in the 1400 block of U.S. 71 /US 84 in Fairview Alpha, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office (NPSO) reports.

The SRO said there were at least 62 people — including summer school students, teachers and support staff — when the campus was evacuated.

“A thorough search of the school premises by deputies and firefighters identified no evidence or credible source of a threat to students and staff,” the sheriff’s office reported.

The detectives' investigation led them to a person of interest, a student who was on campus. The minor is accused of communicating false information about a planned arson. The youth was taken to Ware Youth Center near Coushatta.

Personnel from Natchitoches Parish Fire District 9 and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS also responded to the call and attended near the school.
