Teaching Teen Driver Safety Through Hands-On Training in St. Johns County – 104.5 WOKV

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The Teen Driver Challenge has started in St. Johns County.

This summer, deputies are teaching high school students to become safer, more confident drivers through hands-on experience.

The Florida Sheriff's Association's Teen Driver Challenge is a free, one-day advanced driving course taught by certified law enforcement driving instructors.

“Areas covered include proper braking, negotiating a figure 8 (steering), front and rear serpentine, cornering, braking at intersections, evasive maneuvers, off-road recovery, and crash recovery. skidding,” explains the Teen Driver Challenge website.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and have a valid, state-issued learner's permit or driver's license.
