TDP worker dies after alleged attack with knife and ax; Nara Lokesh accuses YSRCP

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Gourinath Chowdary died after he was allegedly attacked by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) workers with knives and axes in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district.

Gowrinath Chowdary was murdered in Veldurthi mandal in the district on Sunday evening, a police official said.

“Chowdary was murdered following an argument at Bommireddypalli village in Veldurthi mandal,” Pattikonda sub-divisional police officer Srinivas Reddy told PTI.

He said a murder case had been registered and police were searching for those responsible. TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh claimed that the YSRCP was behind Chowdary's murder and assured that the TDP party would stand with the family of the deceased.

“Even after losing, YS Jagan continues to write a bloody story. TDP leader Gowrinath Chowdary of Bommireddypalli in Veldurthi mandal of Kurnool district has been assassinated,” Lokesh said in a post on X .

Assuring that the culprits would not be spared, Lokesh said that law and order would be restored.

Meanwhile, YSRCP's X account posted a video alleging that a party supporter was humiliated, forced to kneel and apologize in front of a poster of Lokesh.

A half-naked man can be seen in the video sobbing and apologizing to this poster. The video went viral on social media.

“Heartbreaking images from Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. TDP leaders are targeting Dalits in the state who are raising their voices against them. They are literally threatening the lives of Dalits, forcing them to publicly apologize to Lokesh,” said the YSRCP in the message.

Besides, the party led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu and Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan: “Is this the development you promised to bring to the State ?

Alleging violence in the state, the YSRCP leader had written to President Droupadi Murmu on June 6, asking him to intervene to enforce law and order in Andhra Pradesh.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kurnool visited the village and assured the residents of strict security measures.
