Taylor Mill police officer-involved shooting under investigation

TAYLOR MILL, Ky. (WXIX) – Multiple police agencies were called to respond to an officer-involved shooting in Taylor Mill on Sunday.

Taylor Mill and Covington police officers responded to Grand Avenue following a report that a suspect was threatening a family member with a knife, according to Covington Police Lt. Justin Bradbury.

According to neighbors present at the scene, it all started around 3 p.m.

Police said they entered the home and encountered the suspect as he threatened the family member with a knife and one of the officers fired a shot.

Lt. Bradbury said Covington police do not investigate shootings involving officers from his own department.

Kentucky State Police Trooper David Jones confirmed the Critical Incident Response Team responded to the shooting investigation.

FOX19's Mike Schell said a coroner's vehicle was seen leaving the scene.

The neighbor, who did not want to speak on camera, said the couple had lived in the house for at least 40 years and that police had been called to the property several times over the past week.

No names have been released at this stage, nor any details about what led to the confrontation between the two people involved.

Police confirmed there was no threat to the public.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Kentucky State Police at 859-428-1212.
