Taoqi Build – Best Weapon, Guide to Echoes in Wuthering Waves

Taoqi is one of the characters available at the launch of Wuthering Waves, which players may already own thanks to their beginner rolls. In this guide, we will teach players how to build their Taoqi, including the best weapon and echoes to equip.

Taoqi Building Guide

Note that this guide is for weapons and echoes currently available in the game. If new weapons or improved echoes are introduced, we will be sure to update this guide.

Presentation of the Taoqi kit

We already have a guide detailing the Taoqi kit. However, let's quickly go through it for the sake of this guide.

Taoqi is an SR (4 star) Broadblade character, whose role in a team is either sub-DPS or shield. Their kit consists of parrying and countering attacks

Taoqi's basic attack, flying attack, and counter-dodge all deal devastating damage to enemies they hit. Its heavy attack is different from other heavy attacks in the game, in that it does not immediately deal damage to enemies. Instead, it causes Taoqi to enter the Rocksteady defense state.

In this state, Taoqi will take reduced damage. Additionally, if Taoqi is attacked in this state, or if 3 seconds pass, she will use her strategic parry, which deals damage to enemies.

His resonance skill, Fortified Defense, deals devastating damage to surrounding enemies, heals Taoqi, and generates 3 Rocksteady Shields, which reduce damage taken.

Its immovable Resonance Release deals a large amount of damage in a single attack to nearby enemies.

Taoqi Skill Upgrade Priority

First level Forte Taoqi Circuit, as it increases the amount of shield her TImed counters give. Follow up with her Resonance skill, which increases her damage and healing. Next comes Resonance Release to increase its damage, then Basic Attack to increase parry damage. Close it with the introductory skill.

Also be sure to upgrade inherent skills as they become available, as well as other nodes in the skill tree.

Best Taoqi Weapons Guide

Dauntless Evernight: When the introductory skill is released, increases ATK by 16% and DEF by 30%, for 15 sec.

This weapon is what you should equip on Taoqi if you plan to make it primarily your support. The weapon skill allows you to quickly charge its Concerto, which allows the player to quickly use its Outro skill, which provides the DMG Deepen resonance skill to the next character.

Additionally, the weapon's substat's energy regeneration allows the player to quickly charge its Resonance Release, adding a bit of damage every time Taoqi enters the field.

Originite: Type 1: When the resonance skill is released, restores HP by 6%. This effect can be triggered 1 time every 12 seconds.

This weapon is the F2P weapon for sub-DPS Taoqi because it has a DEF substat, which as we mentioned is dependent on his entire kit. Additionally, it will also increase the amount of HP she recovers when using her Resonance skill, thus improving her survivability.

Broadblade of Voyager: When the resonance skill is released, restores resonance energy by 12. This effect can be triggered 1 time every 20 seconds.

This weapon is another good F2P weapon for Taoqi as it allows him to quickly recharge his Resonance Release through Energy Regeneration and Flat Resonance Energy Regeneration. The only downside is that since it doesn't give DEF, you'll have to compensate with its Echoes.

Guide to the Best Taoqi Echoes

It is important to remember that the ideal echo allocation is 1 echo at 4 costs, 2 echoes at 3 costs, and 2 echoes at 1 cost.

Sonata Effect: 2 pieces Flowing Eclipse, 2 pieces Moonlit Clouds

• Damage damage +10%
• Energy regeneration increased by 10%
• Main echo: Geochelone without crown or bell

This is perhaps the best Echoes build for Taoqi, providing a good balance between his support abilities and his Sub-DPS abilities. Using Crownless as your primary Echo will deal more damage to him, while using Bell-Borne Geochelone will provide more support to his team.

When using this set, get DEF% on cost 4, Energy Regen or DEF% for all 3 costs, and DEF% on cost 1.

Sonata Effect: Solar Eclipse in 5 pieces

• Damage damage +10%
• Havoc DMG +7.5% after launching a basic attack or heavy attack. This effect stacks up to 4 times, each stack lasts 15 sec
• Main echo: without crown

Using this Echoes set focuses more on the Sub-DPS side of Taoqi, giving him as much Havoc DMG% bonus as possible compared to the 5 piece set. Add in Crownless's buffs, and you have a Taoqi that can deal a lot of damage.

When using this set, get Crit Rate or Crit DMG on 4 cost, DEF% or Havoc DMG% on 3 cost (one of each can work), and DEF% on both 1 costs.

Sonata Effect: 4 pieces Clouds in Moonlight

• Energy regeneration increased by 10%
• After using Outro SKill, increases the ATK of the next Resonator by 22.5% for 15 sec.
• Main echo: Bell's geochelon or heron of impermanence

This set of Echoes focuses on Taoqi's support abilities, both allowing him to charge up his Resonance Release faster, and providing the main DPS with a 22.5% ATK buff when using his Outro skill.

Bell-Borne Geochelone provides the team with protection against up to three hits, as well as additional DMG buffs as long as they aren't hit. Impermanence Heron, on the other hand, helps Taoqi charge his Resonance Release faster.

When using this set, get DEF% on all Echoes, although the player can also choose to get Energy Regen% on 3-cost Echoes.

The substats players should aim for remain consistent regardless of which set above the player chooses to use on Taoqi. That is, they should get more Energy Regeneration, then DEF%, Flat DEF and finally Resonance Skill and Release DMG.

Taoqi Teams Guide

As mentioned above, Taoqi can serve as both sub-DPS or support. As such, here is an example of a team formed for Taoqi:

Havoc/Spectro Rover, Baizhi, Taoqi

This is a good model for a team that uses Taoqi. Whether the player teams as a Sub-DPS or as a pure support character, the team will look like this.

The Rover in both forms deals quite a bit of damage with its Resonance skill, especially Spectro Rover. As such, they can benefit greatly from Taoqi's Outro skill which has the DMG Deepen resonance skill. Alternatively, players can replace the Rover with any DPS they own, preferably one with high Resonance skill DMG.

Taoqi will provide the team with shields, as well as buffs from his Outro skill. Baizhi, or Verina, can serve as the team's healer, providing healing and buffs to the main DPS alongside Taoqi.
