Tangipahoa Parish deputies search for 4 escaped inmates

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for four inmates who escaped from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

In a news release, the sheriff said the four inmates managed to escape the jail's perimeter fence while participating in their recreation in the yard.

When crews inspected the fence, one section was found to be vulnerable and easy to maneuver, so a small body could pass through.

Deputies identified the four inmates at large as follows:

• Omarion Hookfin, 19, of Hammond
• Avery Guidry, 19, of Natalbany
• Jamarcus Cyprien, 20 years old, from Amite
• Travon Johnson, 21, of Natalbany

The sheriff's office said Johnson, Hookfin and Guidry were in jail after their arrest for a 2022 homicide in Hammond. Cyprian was serving time for armed robbery and weapons charges. Hookfin was also charged with aggravated battery while in jail in Catahoula Parish.
