The fire rages at 12 Taft Place in Dunkirk.

A fire at 12 Taft Place in Dunkirk remains under investigation.

Around 11:14 p.m. Thursday, Dunkirk firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire. Upon arrival, heavy fires were reported on the first floor of the one and a half story structure. A boat, camper van and motorcycle were also burning in the driveway. The main fire at the residence was contained and restoration operations immediately began to locate hidden fires on the first and second floors of the home and vehicles. At 00:45, the overhaul operation was completed.

Mutual aid was received from the Fredonia Fire Department and East Dunkirk Fire Department, Alstar Ambulance and Chautauqua County EMS. All aid societies evacuated the scene before 1 a.m. It is believed there was a resident at the home who evacuated the residence and was not injured.

No injuries were reported by personnel on scene and all units evacuated the scene by 1:20 a.m.
