T20 World Cup: Wasim Jaffer gives wild response to post alleging advantage to Indian team | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Former Indian Test opener Wasim Jaffer is known for his witty and wild responses on X, especially to England cricketers.

Jaffer enjoys a love-hate banter with former England captain Michael Vaughan and both spare no chance to clash over their cricket team's performances.

On Sunday, an English cricket website claimed that the T20 World Cup schedule favored the Indian team, especially the semi-final schedule of the tournament.

The website claims that the Indian team knows the venue of its semi-final (Guyana) and that match is scheduled to begin at 8 pm IST on June 27, prime time for India, while the first semi-final starts at 6 a.m. IST on June 26 in Trinidad.

Although the final took place on June 29, the website further claimed that there was no reserve day for the second semi-final while the first semi-final had a reserve day.

To this, Wasim Jaffer simply responded on Monday with a wild line: “It's one thing to know where your SF will be played, it's another to qualify for it. For example, the WTC finals have always had took place in England, but England never qualified.

Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team would be looking to end their long ICC Trophy drought in this edition.

India last saw a major title triumph in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

India reached the final of last year's ODI World Cup at home but lost to Australia in front of a dejected sellout crowd at the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.

In this year's T20 World Cup, India will face Ireland (June 5), Pakistan (June 9), USA (June 12) and Canada (June 15) in the group stage of the tournament.
