(KRON) – An Oakland resident was arrested for grand theft following an attempt to return merchandise that was never purchased at a Serramonte Center clothing retailer, according to the city Police Department by Daly.

On June 5 around 8:40 p.m., a Zumiez manager noticed a person selecting T-shirts and placed them in a stroller. According to police, the suspect tried to return the same T-shirts to the cash register. The cashier asked the person for a receipt. Unable to provide a receipt, the suspect fled the store with the merchandise.

When the manager tried to take the suspect's merchandise, they said, “I'll shoot and I'll get my hands on you.” Police say the suspect stole T-shirts worth about $200.

The suspect fled in a Dodge Durango, which was later located by Daly City police. The suspect was identified as a 36-year-old Oakland resident. The suspected thief was arrested and jailed for robbery.
