Swimmer's body found in Des Moines River

Missing Ottumwa man found dead in Des Moines River

The Ottumwa man who was last seen Sunday swimming in the Des Moines River has been found dead. Previous coverage in video above: Ottumwa man missing after swimming in Des Moines River. Killer Amo, 36, was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Authorities said he was swimming in the river earlier in the day with a group of people near the Highway 34 overpass near the JBS plant in Ottumwa. Personnel from the Wapello County Sheriff's Office, Ottumwa Fire Department, Eldon Fire Department and the Iowa DNR searched the river and embankments. The body of Skiller Amo, 36, was located and found in the river around 12:45 p.m. Thursday, just south of the Ottumwa Water Pollution Facility, southeast of Ottumwa, according to a news release from Wapello County Sheriff's Office Press.
