Suspicious person report leads to fatal officer-involved shooting in South Jordan

An individual was killed in a shooting involving a South Jordan police officer after authorities responded to reports of a suspicious person – who pulled out a gun when police made contact, according to the police department from southern Jordan.

The investigation began on Saturday, June 15, when dispatch received reports of a person looking through the windows of a parked car.

Police responded and located the individual in Skye Park. The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife when he was approached by police.

Authorities said the person was uncooperative and “less deadly force was used in an attempt to disarm them,” although that proved ineffective.
