Suspects charged after child remains found in Ohio County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Four people connected to the search for a missing Ohio County infant have now been charged with multiple counts following the discovery of an infant's remains at a Reynolds home Station.

Ricky Smith, Brodie Payne, Tesla Tucker and Cage Rudd were indicted on several counts, including engaging in organized crime, criminal abuse of a child under 12, wanton endangerment, failure to report the death of an infant and corpse abuse where the corpse of a deceased child was treated in a manner that would “scandalize ordinary family sensibilities”. Ricky Smith was also charged as a persistent habitual offender after previously being convicted of criminal offenses in Daviess Circuit Court.

Authorities began searching for 8-month-old Miya Rudd earlier this month after her parents, Tesla Tucker and Cage Rudd, were arrested on drug charges in Daviess County and the location of their child was unknown. was not known. On June 14, Kentucky State Police announced they found the remains of an infant matching Miya Rudd at the family's home in Reynolds Station.

During the search for Miya, authorities arrested a number of people, including Tucker and Rudd, as well as Miya's grandfather, Ricky Smith, and Brodie Payne, who both lived in the same house as Tucker and Rudd.
