Suspects arrested after shooting outside Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles

Four people have been arrested following reports of a shooting outside the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday evening.

Los Angeles Police responded to the 100 block of South Grand Avenue where witnesses reportedly heard gunshots around 5 p.m.

A graduation ceremony was being held in the concert hall for more than 100 Los Angeles County high school graduates, including 29 students currently detained on probation.

At the end of the ceremony, a person suddenly jumped over a second-story balcony and assaulted one of the teenage graduates, authorities said.

Officers responding to the scene discovered a fight outside the concert venue involving several suspects. Four people were arrested during the incident.

Investigators said several bullet casings were found in the area. It's unclear what exactly started the fight.

No injuries to law enforcement or ceremony attendees were reported, the LAPD said, and no suspicious identities were released.

The graduation ceremony was hosted by the Los Angeles County Office of Education and the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

“We are pleased to report that all inmate probation graduates and graduates at the Los Angeles County Office of Education are safe and sound,” Los Angeles County probation officials said. “The safety and security of all young people in Los Angeles County is of the utmost importance. The Probation Department will continue to work with our neighboring law enforcement agencies and partners to celebrate the accomplishments of our youth while working to create a safer community.

Streets surrounding the city center were blocked off while police investigated the area.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
