Suspected New York drunk driver John Osetkowski crashes van into upstate house

A 21-year-old drunk driver crashed his pickup truck into an upstate New York home early Saturday morning, police say.

John Osetkowski crashed his black full-size Ford pickup truck into a home in Wheatfield, Niagara County, around 2 a.m., according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Police responded to the scene of the accident and removed Ostekowski and another passenger from the vehicle. Both suffered minor injuries, police said.

The owner, who was inside at the time, was not injured.

However, the house suffered significant structural damage and a building inspector deemed it uninhabitable.

Photos from the scene released by the sheriff's office showed the truck almost entirely inside the house, with splinters and debris strewn everywhere.

Police determined Ostetkowski was speeding and failed to yield at a stop sign when he hit the house.

Osetkowski, of North Tonawanda, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and several traffic citations.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment while in custody.
