Suspected New York arsonist stole cell phone with tracking app: sources

MANHATTAN, NY (PIX11) – A man has been arrested in two separate fires at Manhattan subway stations, according to the New York Police Department.

Nile Taylor, 49, allegedly threw flaming liquid at a 23-year-old man on a subway train at Houston Street station around 3 p.m. Saturday, police said. The 23-year-old man suffered severe burns after his shirt caught fire, but is expected to recover, according to authorities.


Taylor is also accused of throwing a container filled with flaming liquid at people on the southbound No. 1 subway platform at the West 28th Street station on Feb. 5, police said.

The suspect fled after Saturday's incident, but was arrested after stealing a cellphone that had an Apple device tracking app installed, sources told PIX11 News.

Taylor was charged with arson, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
