Suspected human traffickers arrested in Salinas. | News

Salinas police arrested four people on suspicion of human trafficking.

According to a Salinas Police news release, on May 22, detectives received a tip from the FBI regarding a possible human trafficking victim on Kern Street. Hours later, detectives identified and located the minor victim and the alleged traffickers, Cordarryl Steen, 37, and Sade Williams, 23, at a local hotel.

Both Steen and Williams were arrested and taken to the Monterey County Jail on human trafficking charges. The victim was placed in the custody of Monterey County Child Protective Services.

Later that night, another minor victim of human trafficking called police after running away from a hotel room in which she was forced to work, according to the press release.

Officers surrounded the hotel room and arrested the suspects, Rory Johnson, 21, and Jessica Clamucha, 20, without incident.

Steen posted bond on May 28 and is due in court for his arraignment on June 11, according to court records. Williams remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 6. Johnson, meanwhile, remains in custody and his next court date is scheduled for June 18. Clamucha is no longer in custody.
