Suspect linked to St. Johnsbury murder arrested in New Orleans, police say

A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Vermont has been arrested in Louisiana, police say. On Tuesday, Vermont State Police announced that Danny Daniels, 32, of Philadelphia, was arrested the day before in New Orleans. Vermont arrest warrant charging him with aiding and abetting the commission of first-degree murder as well as other charges related to the death of Jimenez Lugo in December 2022. Members of the Vermont State Police Louisiana arrested Daniels and another man on several unrelated charges following a vehicle chase and foot chase, according to investigators. In addition to the murder charge, Daniels faces other charges in Vermont, including aiding in the commission of assault and robbery with a weapon, aiding in the commission of burglary and for federal drug charges. Conditions of the warrant require Daniels to be held without bail upon extradition to Vermont. Vermont State Police have not yet set an initial court date, and details on when he will face state charges related to the homicide are still pending.
