Suspect in Garfield High School shooting

A 17-year-old student was shot and injured Thursday afternoon at Garfield High School in Seattle and police are searching for the suspect.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting near the 400 block of 23rd Avenue South and found the teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

According to investigators, there was an altercation on school grounds and the victim tried to break up the fight before the shooting.

Police did not identify the suspected shooter, but said the suspect was a “school-age male” who fled the scene and has not been found.

FOX 13 obtained surveillance footage of the suspect and victim.

The suspect in the photo was wearing a red hooded jacket and what appeared to be light pants or jeans. The suspect was also seen wearing white shoes.
